Flor Application

Flor Application

Fluoride is one of the elements found in nature. It is an element that is harmful to the body in its deficiency or excess. In the human body, it is found in teeth, bones and trace amounts in the skin. It is taken into our body with food and drink. The main source of fluoride is fish and drinking water.
When fluoride is applied to the teeth as a fluoride compound; it transforms the hard structure of the teeth, called hydroxyapatite, into the even stronger fluoroapatite form. With this transformation, the enamel layer of the teeth becomes stronger and harder. It has been proven by research that the strong structure formed is more resistant to caries.
HOW TO APPLY FLOR?
Fluoride application is done under the supervision of a physician. The fluoride compound in the form of polish or varnish is kept on the tooth surface for a certain period of time. Then, the fluoride in the mouth is thrown out without rinsing, just by spitting out.
IS FLOOR APPLICATION HARMFUL?
There is no harm in the application of fluoride to the teeth in terms of people’s health. After the appropriate dose of fluoride is applied to the tooth surface, under the supervision of the physician and in a controlled manner, the excess is thrown out with the effect of saliva.
Information such as fluoride joining the person’s circulatory system and accumulating in other organs is not correct. This compound is applied only topically and does not enter the blood or circulation in any way.
WHAT SHOULD BE ATTENTION TO AFTER FLOR APPLICATION?
After fluoride application;
The mouth is not rinsed,
The saliva in the mouth is not swallowed for half an hour (it is recommended to spit into a glass),
Teeth are not brushed on the same day,
Do not eat for 1-2 hours.
WHAT IS THE AGE OF THE FLOR APPLICATION?
Fluoride administration is a procedure that requires patient cooperation. Therefore, fluoride can be administered to any individual aged at least 3 years, who can communicate with the physician, and has swallowing and spitting skills.
Individuals with resin or pine nut allergies should be aware of the possibility of developing an allergy to the flora. In case of allergy, blisters occur on the gums. These blisters will resolve in a short time.
